DAY 1 – Exploring the area

Morning

A visit to the village of Brantes

Perched at an altitude of 600 metres, the village of Brantes looks as if it has stepped straight out of a Provençal fairy tale, and is a breathtaking sight. Its stone houses huddle together, forming a maze of picturesque lanes, while the majestic Mont Ventoux rises in the background.

Whether you’re a solo explorer in search of peace and quiet, a family in search of adventure or a group of friends in search of authentic discoveries, Brantes will enchant you. Its steep streets, hilltop church and the ruins of its feudal castle invite you to delve into history and enjoy sweeping panoramic views over Provence. Let yourself be carried away by the magic of this hidden gem in the heart of the Vaucluse and the Drôme provençale.

A visit to the Scourtinerie in Nyons

Immerse yourself in Provençal tradition with a visit to the Scourtinerie in Nyons, a real journey back in time. Here, the making of coconut-fibre scourtins, the woven mats once used for pressing olive oil, has been transformed into a genuine art form. This family heritage goes back more than a century, to when Ferdinand and Marie Fert broke new ground by introducing coconut fibre into French weaving.

Discover the fascinating history of this family business founded in 1882, now in the skilled hands of Frédérique and Arnaud Fert, grandchildren of its visionary founders. The scourtins, now turned into trivets, doormats and decorative rugs, bear witness to an ingenuity and creativity that live on through the generations. A unique experience for lovers of craftsmanship and Provençal traditions

Afternoon

Stroll along the Sentier Art et Nature in Savoillans

In the peaceful village of Savoillans, discover a hidden treasure that will transport you to a world of beauty and reflection. The Sentier Art et Nature (Art and Nature Trail) is a rare gem at the foot of the north face of Mont Ventoux, where international artists in residence have left their mark in the form of fascinating artworks and installations.

Wander among hanging sails, blue trees, watchful eyes, strange creatures and a lady with an elaborate hairdo who is just waiting for your smile. The artworks inhabit the site and raise questions, while immersing you in the scents, colours and murmurs of the undergrowth. Created in 2013, this art trail is constantly evolving, with new works added every year.

Along the way, discover the last reconstructed charcoal kiln on the Ventoux, a testament to the history and hard labour of the massif’s inhabitants over the centuries. The trail, which takes around 1 hour 15 minutes, starts in the heart of the village, near the bakery, and offers an experience that will stimulate your senses and your imagination. A real gem to explore for lovers of art and nature.
