A stay in Réallon would not be complete without looking up at the spectacular Aiguilles de Chabrières. Rising to 2,403 metres, their astonishing limestone towers dominate the resort and offer exceptional views over Lake Serre-Ponçon. In summer, the panoramic chairlifts make it easy to reach the heights and set off to explore them.
Between mountains and turquoise waters, Serre-Ponçon offers one of the most spectacular landscapes in the Southern Alps. From Réallon, head down to its shores to alternate swimming, walks, water sports and breaks facing the peaks. Don’t miss Savines-le-Lac and its great bridge, a true gateway to the lake’s many faces.
Probably the most accessible and most majestic high-altitude viewpoint over Serre-Ponçon. From the resort of Réallon, two chairlifts give easy access to the ridges overlooking the lake. A few minutes’ walk from the top of the second chairlift, you reach the Serre du Mouton, a natural promontory offering a magnificent panorama over the whole of Lake Serre-Ponçon and the Morgon range.
The atmosphere is unique: a plunging view of the turquoise waters, unspoilt mountain scenery and, as a backdrop, the peaks of the Écrins National Park.
Picture a little mountain lake at an altitude of 1,452 metres, surrounded by forests, with the majestic Pic de Morgon on the horizon. The Lac de Saint-Apollinaire is one of those interludes where slowing down is a pleasure. Strolling, contemplation or fly fishing: here, the mountains are simply there to be savoured.
Hidden in the middle of an exceptional forest lies one of Serre-Ponçon’s great heritage treasures: Boscodon abbey. Its almost thousand-year-old Romanesque architecture and mountain surroundings make it a wonderfully serene stop. Round off your visit with a walk beneath the trees: at Boscodon, heritage and nature are one.
At the far end of the Réallon valley, Les Gourniers already gives a delightful feeling of being at the end of the world. This little hamlet marks one of the gateways to the Écrins National Park. From its 17th-century chapel, paths and trails lead you towards waterfalls, mountain streams, alpine pastures and wild valleys. The mountains begin here.
