Our chalet “Les Coulmes” welcomes you in the magnificent setting of the Col de Romeyère. During your stay, you will enjoy home-style cooking prepared with local, organically farmed Vercors produce. You will also enjoy a high-quality welcome and a friendly atmosphere, and share in our project of environmental education for sustainable development (energy saving, waste sorting, locally sourced food…).

Discovery classes in the Vercors
Located in Rencurel, in the heart of the Vercors Regional Nature Park, Le Chalet des Coulmes is a holiday centre dedicated to hosting school groups: an environment conducive to learning and to discovering nature. Stays can be arranged on a full board, half board or self-catering basis, with packed lunches available on request.

Our aim is to introduce children to the mountain environment through a range of activities, sports in particular, and to help them progress step by step: getting to grips with the equipment, assessing difficulties, overcoming apprehension and learning new techniques – all in an adventurous setting far from the everyday.

Our chalet “Les Coulmes” welcomes you all year round in the magnificent setting of the Col de Romeyère: home-style cooking with organic, local Vercors produce, a high-quality welcome in a friendly atmosphere, and our “Environmental education for sustainable development” project. Whether you are a group of friends, a sports group or a family, we have an option to suit your plans.

Right at the foot of the chalet, the little resort of the Col de Romeyère is the ideal place for a first taste of skiing: child-sized alpine ski runs, ski lifts 100 metres away, sledging runs and the start of the snowshoe and cross-country ski routes. No transport, no time wasted: groups put their skis on at the chalet door.
Half an hour away, this Nordic ski area, one of the largest in France, offers dozens of kilometres of groomed cross-country ski trails and waymarked snowshoe routes. Green and blue trails suited to beginners, a ski school, a fun zone: the benchmark for learning cross-country skiing on a snow class.
Open for much of the winter, the Choranche caves offer a refuge at a constant temperature when it is cold outside. Soda-straw stalactites, an underground lake, a sound and light show: a guided tour along a safe route, ideal for exploring geology and water. To be confirmed according to opening dates.
In Vassieux-en-Vercors, this museum tells the story of the Vercors maquis with displays accessible to young people. Under the snow, the plateau takes on a special dimension and gives the story its full force. A highlight for CM2 (Year 6) and secondary school classes. Check winter opening days.
The houses hanging above the Bourne can be seen all year round, and the Musée de l’Eau water museum, entirely under cover, offers interactive exhibitions and workshops for school groups. An “indoor” outing that is easy to slot into a snow class programme.
Also in Vassieux, this museum built on a 4,500-year-old flint-knapping workshop offers hands-on workshops (knapping, fire-making, spear-thrower shooting) indoors. A good option for a half day off the slopes, to combine with the Memorial. Winter opening is often limited to school holidays: to be confirmed.
From the chalet, the Coulmes forest can be explored on snowshoes along easy, waymarked routes: animal tracks in the snow, landscape reading, an introduction to mountain safety (avalanche transceivers, igloo building). The ideal playground for a supervised nature outing without taking the coach.

As part of the Marque Parc label, we are committed to respecting and enhancing nature through environmental management measures, to helping you discover the riches of the area – landscapes, traditions, leisure, culinary heritage – and to giving you a warm, personal welcome. During the stay, everyone is made aware through everyday actions: waste sorting and composting, preventing food waste, saving energy and respecting water resources.

Local produce within everyone's reach
Together with other holiday centres and with the support of the Vercors Regional Nature Park, we initiated the “Alimentation, Santé et Territoires” (Food, Health and Local Areas) approach: healthy food within everyone’s reach, farming sustained by the consumption of local produce, and preserved habitats, biodiversity and quality of life. We pay particular attention to the origin and quality of the food served at the table – and also offer food-themed stays.
