Just 20 minutes by boat from the Vieux-Port, you arrive in the Frioul archipelago. Located on the island of Ratonneau, our centre enjoys a prime position on 7,000 m² of wooded grounds. Set apart from the village and just metres from a little cove with turquoise waters, it offers a unique setting for unforgettable stays.
Our holiday centre is intended for groups (minimum 12 people), whether you are organising seaside classes, children’s and youth stays, sports training camps, seminars or family events. It is not possible to book individual stays or stays for small parties.

A twenty-minute walk from the centre, this former quarantine hospital, built in the 19th century to isolate ships suspected of carrying yellow fever, overlooks the sea and the bay of Marseille. Restored and brought to life by concerts in summer, it is the archipelago’s flagship monument and a fine introduction to the history of health and of the port. Easy path, exceptional view.
At the very top of the island, Vauban’s fortifications and the German batteries of 1943 tell the story of two centuries of military history. An accessible walk with no technical difficulty, offering a 360° panorama over the harbour and the Calanques. A tangible starting point for talking about the defence of Marseille and the Second World War.
From the port of Frioul, the shuttle boat reaches in a few minutes the fortress made famous by The Count of Monte Cristo. Dungeons, terraces, the stories of its prisoners: a short, memorable visit, run by the Centre des monuments nationaux, with tours adapted for school groups.
Perched just above the Vieux-Port, Marseille’s oldest district can be explored in an hour’s stroll: narrow lanes, stairways, colourful façades, street art murals and artisans’ workshops. A child-sized, fully pedestrian labyrinth that plunges you into Greek and working-class Marseille. Ideal for a treasure trail or a guided tour with a storyteller.
Facing the sea, the Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations impresses even before you step inside: a cube wrapped in concrete lacework, linked to Fort Saint-Jean by a footbridge suspended above the water. Inside, exhibitions on the Mediterranean, educational workshops and terraced gardens. A half day entirely under cover, perfect when the mistral is blowing.
The “Bonne Mère” watches over Marseille from her 150-metre rock. You get up there by bus or on the little tourist train from the Vieux-Port, with no walking. At the top: the basilica and its golden mosaics, the ex-votos of sailors saved at sea and, above all, a full panorama of the harbour where children have fun spotting the Frioul and their holiday centre.
The Frioul is part of it, but most of it is best discovered by boat: leaving from the Vieux-Port, a guided cruise skirts the white cliffs of Sormiou, Morgiou, Sugiton or En-Vau as they plunge into turquoise water. With no walking at all, in half a day, you understand why Europe’s first peri-urban national park is protected and how these limestone gorges were formed.
Built by Napoleon III for Empress Eugénie at the entrance to the Vieux-Port, this palace never hosted its owners. Its gently sloping gardens, free and open to all, are the best balcony over the port, Fort Saint-Jean and the MuCEM. A perfect picnic spot for a group, with room to run around and a picture-postcard view.
In the heart of Le Panier, this former 17th-century almshouse, a Baroque masterpiece by Pierre Puget, wraps its three storeys of arcades around a chapel with an oval dome. Today it houses the Museum of Mediterranean Archaeology and the Museum of African, Oceanian and Native American Arts, with trails adapted for school groups. A calm, light-filled visit under cover that works in all weathers.
A 20-minute shuttle boat ride from the centre, the Vieux-Port has been the beating heart of Marseille for 2,600 years. In the morning, fishermen sell their catch at the quayside market on the Quai des Belges; beneath the giant mirrored canopy, children love seeing themselves upside down. The starting point for every Marseille excursion, it can be explored on foot, with no constraints, and tells the story of the port and the city all by itself.
