The largest bird park in France, 20 minutes from the estate: 3,000 birds of 300 species, an open-air flight show that leaves young and old open-mouthed, flat paths accessible to all and coach parking. The must-do outing for a full day, with educational workshops dedicated to school groups.
More than a thousand lakes, herons, storks and a fish-farming tradition unique in France. By bike or on a guided walk from the estate, you discover a landscape of water and reeds, ideal for a nature outing or an open-air geography lesson. In winter, traditional lake fishing offers an authentic spectacle.
15 minutes away, Pérouges is one of the most beautiful villages in France: ramparts, cobbled lanes, half-timbered houses and the famous sugar galette. A child-sized visit, easy to cover on foot, that takes you back to the Middle Ages without any effort.
30 minutes away, all of Lyon can be explored in a day: the traboules of Vieux Lyon, Fourvière hill and its Roman theatre, the Parc de la Tête d’Or and its free zoo, the Musée des Confluences. In Bourg-en-Bresse, this masterpiece of Flamboyant Gothic houses the tombs of Margaret of Austria and a peaceful cloister. A guided tour adapted for school groups, to combine with a tasting of Bresse poultry for food lovers.
A restored 15th-century Bresse farmhouse, with its Saracen chimney, its collections and its animals. Children’s workshops on rural life in days gone by: a hands-on educational outing, 40 minutes from the estate.
On the edge of the Bugey, a prehistoric leisure park: cave tour, flint-knapping and fire-making workshops, nature trail. A turnkey “prehistory” day for Cycles 2 and 3 (primary), with coach parking. Open from spring to autumn.
