HISTORY
Yellow fever, the Grand Saint Antoine, the port of Pomègues, the Black Death, the lazarettos, Caroline Hospital, the Berry breakwater, World War II remnants, Château d’If… A whole chapter of the Frioul Archipelago’s history closely linked to Marseille.
FLORA
Discover how the flora has adapted to sometimes harsh climatic conditions. A well-hidden but existing ecosystem.
FAUNA
Seagulls, or ‘gabians’ in Provençal, although very present and noisy, are not the only inhabitants of the archipelago. Cory’s shearwaters, jackdaws, falcons, owls… not to mention the rich marine fauna visible even at the water’s edge on the beach.
ISLANDS “SCULPTED BY THE WIND”
The mistral is the architect of France’s most arid microclimate in Frioul: it sculpts, it erodes… What better place to work on landscape reading?
